Draper and Kramer is looking for a Leasing Director for one of our busy properties in the Bronzeville area. This person will report directly to the Property Manager and is responsible for the leasing staff, general marketing of the property, and all related functions, as well as being responsible for the leasing activity on the property. They must have a working knowledge of personnel, accounting, leasing, maintenance, and resident retention policies and programs. They must represent the company in its relations with residents, employees, and local vendors and reflect the attitudes, policies, and general personality of the company.


  • Staff and supervise the leasing office, as well as provide training to the leasing staff as to the proper method of showing apartments, handling telephone calls, and recording traffic.
  • Aid in the design of the 90-day marketing plan. Promote and implement the same with the idea of reaching the leasing and occupancy goals outlined in the plan.
  • Lease and show apartments as needed.
  • Responsible for applicant files. Initial approval on all paperwork and verifications. Assure that all money is processed properly, within 24 to 48 hours. Will present all applications to the manager for approval within the same timeframe.
  • Update the vacancy list, make-ready and leasing progress on a daily basis, and ensure sure all names are correct. Responsible for assigning follow-up phone calls to future renewals as part of the customer service program.
  • Responsible for meeting with the maintenance supervisor on a daily basis for all completed work orders. Responsible for assigning leasing staff and assistant manager work order callbacks. Responsible for generating new business contacts, marketing ideas, competitive shops, inside and outside sales efforts to increase occupancy. Needs access to transportation.
  • Assist in preparing market surveys and shopping other complexes.



  • High school diploma/GED equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in residential leasing
  • Illinois Leasing License
  • Flexible to work weekends as necessary,
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Yardi experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Approachable and friendly demeanor
  • Strong time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work with all levels of employees
